Every Shooshon piece is made by two skilled women artisans in Bulgaria — and we work with them, not simply through them. Designs are shaped in conversation: we bring an idea, they bring decades of hand-knitting experience, and they'll tell us honestly when something won't work, or suggest a better way. They sometimes bring designs of their own, too. They work from home, at their own pace, and are paid fairly for their skill. In a world that has largely automated this kind of craft away, keeping these hands at work — and valuing them properly — is part of what Shooshon is for.
